It's all about me
Hello. I'm David Bennett. Pleased to meet you.
I'm a 20-something – still clinging on to that mid-20s label, for now – web designer and coder/programmer, living in Glasgow, Scotland's largest (and awesomest) city.
When I'm not designing websites as part of fuzzylime, you can sometimes find me writing news stories for stv.tv. Obviously, it goes without saying that all opinions here are entirely my own, and not necessarily those of anyone fantastic enough to employ me.
I worked full-time as a journalist from December 2000 until March 2009, starting off as a reporter on the Dumfries and Galloway Standard before moving to the Paisley Daily Express as a reporter/sub-editor and then The Herald as a sub-editor. My journalistic career actually kicked off in 1998, thanks to the BBC's local news office in Dumfries (I did the sport. Anyone who knows me will know quite how ridiculous a prospect this was).
In March 2009, I left the magical land of newspapers to turn what had been a part-time hobby into a full-time web design business, fuzzylime. We've attracted clients of all sizes and types in what is, as I write this, 16 months.
Our particular focus is on usability. When we started the company, we were sick of looking at sites that were either well designed but a nightmare to use or ugly and a nightmare to use. Very few seemed to get things right. We reckon we've started to turn that around.
Outside of work stuff, I play tennis (not very well) and swim, although not as often as I should. I can regularly be found frequenting one of the finest coffee shop/bars in Glasgow's west end, Jelly Hill, and its near neighbour, Cottiers.
Oh. And I don't like cheese.
Some important stuff: the icons on this site come from the rather superb Silk set by Mark James. And the picture on this page was taken by the very talented John Young.
